Job Title: Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) Long Term Care (LTC)
Job Summary:
The Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) in Long Term Care (LTC) provides evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment to residents in long-term care facilities who have communication and swallowing disorders. The SLP works closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to improve the quality of life for residents and enhance their ability to communicate effectively.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine residents' communication and swallowing disorders.
2. Develop individualized treatment plans to address residents' speech and language needs.
3. Provide therapy sessions to improve residents' speech, language, and swallowing abilities.
4. Educate residents, families, and caregivers on techniques to improve communication and swallowing function.
5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for residents.
6. Document assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with regulatory requirements.
7. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss residents' progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
8. Stay current on research and best practices in speech and language pathology.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
2. Active state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
3. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred.
4. Experience working with geriatric populations in long-term care settings is preferred.
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
7. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and documentation standards in long-term care.
8. Commitment to providing high-quality care to residents.
