Job Title: Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) - Rehab
Job Summary:
The Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) in Rehab is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals with communication and swallowing disorders. They work with patients of all ages to improve their communication skills, enhance their cognitive abilities, and address any difficulties with speech or language. The SLP plays a crucial role in helping patients regain their ability to communicate effectively and participate in daily activities.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform comprehensive evaluations to determine the nature and severity of communication and swallowing disorders
- Develop personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient's specific needs and goals
- Provide individual or group therapy sessions to improve speech, language, and cognitive abilities
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists, to ensure coordinated care for patients
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on strategies to support communication and swallowing skills outside of therapy sessions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records to track progress and outcomes
Qualifications and Skills:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- State licensure or certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- Prior experience working with individuals with communication and swallowing disorders, preferably in a rehabilitation setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education in the field of speech-language pathology
