Position: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) – Long Term Care (LTC)
Department: Rehabilitation Services / Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF)
Reports To: Supervising Physical Therapist (PT)

Overview:
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in a Long-Term Care (LTC) setting helps residents improve their mobility, strength, and functional independence under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
This role is essential in enhancing the quality of life for residents by promoting safe, active, and independent living within a supportive care environment.

🧩 Key Responsibilities:

• Assist Physical Therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans.

• Conduct therapeutic exercises, gait training, and mobility programs.

• Monitor patient progress and report changes to the supervising PT.

• Educate residents and caregivers on safe mobility and exercises.

• Maintain accurate treatment records and documentation per facility standards.

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team (nursing, OT, speech therapy).

• Ensure a safe, motivating, and respectful therapy environment.

• Adhere to all regulatory and ethical standards of practice.

🎓 Qualifications:

• Associate’s Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.

• Active PTA license in practicing state.

• Experience in Long-Term Care, Skilled Nursing, or Rehab facility preferred.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
