Position: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) – Long Term Care (LTC)
Department: Rehabilitation Services / Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF)
Reports To: Supervising Physical Therapist (PT)
Overview:
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in a Long-Term Care (LTC) setting helps residents improve their mobility, strength, and functional independence under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
This role is essential in enhancing the quality of life for residents by promoting safe, active, and independent living within a supportive care environment.
Assist Physical Therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans.
Conduct therapeutic exercises, gait training, and mobility programs.
Monitor patient progress and report changes to the supervising PT.
Educate residents and caregivers on safe mobility and exercises.
Maintain accurate treatment records and documentation per facility standards.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team (nursing, OT, speech therapy).
Ensure a safe, motivating, and respectful therapy environment.
Adhere to all regulatory and ethical standards of practice.
Associate’s Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
Active PTA license in practicing state.
Experience in Long-Term Care, Skilled Nursing, or Rehab facility preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
