Job title: Residential Treatment Therapist
Job Summary: The Residential Treatment Therapist is responsible for providing therapy and counseling services to residents in a residential treatment facility. This includes conducting individual and group therapy sessions, creating treatment plans, and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to support the mental health and well-being of residents.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct individual therapy sessions with residents to address emotional and behavioral issues.
2. Facilitate group therapy sessions to promote communication and support among residents.
3. Create treatment plans tailored to the specific needs of each resident.
4. Collaborate with other members of the treatment team, including psychiatrists, social workers, and case managers.
5. Monitor residents' progress in treatment and adjust therapy plans as needed.
6. Provide crisis intervention and support when residents are in distress.
7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of therapy sessions and treatment plans.
8. Participate in treatment team meetings to discuss residents' progress and develop comprehensive care plans.
9. Stay current on best practices in therapy and treatment modalities.
10. Work with families and outside providers to coordinate care for residents upon discharge from the facility.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field.
2. Licensed as a therapist in the state of employment.
3. Experience working with individuals with mental health and substance abuse issues.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
6. Understanding of trauma-informed care principles.
7. Knowledge of evidence-based therapy techniques.
8. Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
9. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of residents and the treatment team.
10. Compassion and empathy in working with individuals facing mental health challenges.
